Frequently Asked Questions

  • The simplest and easiest way to warm up tissues is to take a shower before your treatment. Clean skin will benefit from the cream being applied, warm water will help the muscles relax, or cold water may help with inflammation.

If you’re feeling high levels of stress or anxiety, a somatic practice that you can try is to lightly hum. Humming stimulates and activates the vagus nerve that runs through both the larynx and pharynx in your throat. Notice your breath, without any judgement, and now notice your feet. Let whatever you notice settle in your body.

  • Please refrain from using heavily scented body products. No perfume or colognes.

  • You may undress to your comfort level. You will always be appropriately draped with a sheet. Feel free to discuss this more with your therapist at your session.

  • Prices are comprehensively priced, do not feel obligated to tip. If you had a great experience, please consider leaving a google review as a tip instead!

  • Talking keeps the brain waves from moving into “theta” which is the beginning state of when the parasympathetic response begins to do what it does, controls the body’s ability to relax. Silent sessions are encouraged, and so is communication, the goals for the session will determine what’s recommended.

  • Both modalities are barefoot techniques- you cannot go wrong when choosing either one! Differences include: Ashiatsu using bars above the massage table for balance while the foot sinks into the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Sarga Bodywork uses a silk strap attached to the bottom of the massage table for balance. By pulling up on the silk while applying downward pressure into the client’s connective tissues, this delivers a unique oblique, myofascial release. When choosing one of the two, both will most likely be blended into a session for optimal results!

  • Not always, but 90% of my sessions are now barefoot, depending on the client’s approval and desired pressure. Why do I love utilizing the broadness of my feet and my bodyweight? It’s simply easier on my body and truly effective! If barefoot modalities are not for you, I love sharing trusted resources of other bodywork providers in the valley who use more traditional hands-on work.

  • Monthly may work well with the combination of at-home exercise to help maintain overall wellness. Receiving regular massage isn’t just luxury; sometimes, it is a necessity. You may need more frequent massages to help relieve specific painful symptoms or reduce stress and anxiety. Bi-weekly or every three weeks is normal for those who integrate regular bodywork and massage into their routine. This is a form of self-care that will help decrease stressors, and also a form to help with pain management. It is not often, but there are times when someone comes in weekly until problem area is resolved and feeling better. I also like to give the reminder that, you can go an entire year without coming in, and I’ll still be happy to see you again!

  • Pressure is subjective and can vary from therapist, modality, or simply with where you are mentally or physically at the moment. Please feel free to discuss preference before starting treatment, or during the session. Open communication is always encouraged.

  • Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented therapy that helps people heal from unresolved symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma — or anything that overwhelms a person’s nervous system.

SE teaches that trauma is not caused by the event itself, but rather develops through the nervous system not fully processing adverse events. SE facilitates the completion of self-protective motor responses and the release of thwarted survival energy bound in the body, thus addressing the root cause of trauma symptoms. This is approached by gently guiding clients to develop tolerance for difficult bodily sensations or anything suppressed.

SE does not require narrative or a person to re-tell or re-live an event. Instead, it offers the opportunity to engage, complete and resolve — in a slow and supported way — the body’s instinctual fight, flight, freeze, and collapse responses.

  • Table Thai yoga is a modern-day evolution and fusion of Traditional Thai bodywork, massage and yoga. These blended healing practices harmonize breath, movement and intention to provide stress, tension and pain relief by incorporating mindful stretching into the treatment.

  • An Intra-oral Massage treatment is a comprehensive therapeutic technique designed to alleviate pain and tension in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). The treatment requires the therapist to wear gloves to access the muscles inside the mouth as well as the outside facial muscles, treating jaw pain and/or any symptoms related to TMJ dysfunction.
